At Allstream, employee involvement - which includes time, money, energy, expertise and leadership - is our most vibrant form of philanthropy. Our employees represent our greatest asset and supporting their talent is the cornerstone of our social responsibility.
Allstream supports employees who volunteer in their community with the My Community program. Our goal is to support activities that give back to our community and make a positive difference in the lives of other people.
- My Community Day offers employees the opportunity to volunteer in corporately organized local community events.
- My Time is Money enables employees who volunteer 50 hours or more with a single registered charity to apply for an annual corporate donation of $250.
- Match my Dollar supports employee fundraising initiatives by matching 25 cents per dollar raised, up to a maximum of $250 per event/per employee.
- My Community Successes provides a forum for employees to share their own volunteering experiences or to highlight the contributions of a colleague.

Supporting the United Way has become a proud tradition for Allstream. In 2004, our national campaign raised over $500,000 for the United Way and the charities it funds. Our volunteer committee organizes many activities for the annual campaign, contributing countless hours and boundless enthusiasm. Allstream employees across the country participate in numerous special events including: The Pumpkin Ball, dress down days, an Online auction and a pool tournament. As a result of their efforts, many causes assisted by the United Way across the country have benefited.

Ability Online is a protected and caring Internet community designed
to enhance the lives of children and youth with disabilities or illness
by providing an online network of friendship and support. For over 15
years, Ability Online members have made new friends and benefited from
the encouragement of role models and mentors, leading to greater
self-esteem and confidence. Allstream has supported Ability Online's
national expansion initiative since 1988. More than 150 hospitals,
rehabilitation centres and schools have entered into partnership with
Ability Online to expand its reach and influence.
In addition to financial support, Allstream has provided volunteers
for special events and technical assistance, as well as spearheaded
fundraising campaigns on behalf of Ability Online.
Ability Online is pleased to be alleviating the fear and frustration that
many young adults with disabilities face when searching for a job, with the
launch of its newest program, "Job Readiness". This is a simplified process
that offers a step by step progression of tasks that begins with self-assessments
and leads members through the phases required to prepare for the big interview,
including work sheets, examples, and links to other useful websites and employment
postings.
Ability Online.s newest program feature is a "Homework Help" area
which offers general study tips and gives members in grades 7 to 12 the
opportunity to ask homework questions in the areas of English, Science,
and Math to online volunteer tutors. To learn more about Ability Online,
please visit their website at www.abilityonline.org.
