Funding Exclusions

Allstream does not award sponsorships or grants to:

• Individuals
• Organizations whose chief purpose is to influence legislation or to participate or intervene in political campaigns on behalf of or against any candidate for public office
• Endowments or memorials
• Construction or renovation projects
• Amateur sports teams
• Any sports-related activity or competition
• Students or amateur groups
• Film and media productions
• Advertising placement (i.e. directories, magazines, brochures, books, catalogues, periodicals except where the benefit is part of an Allstream sponsorship program)
• The purchase of equipment
• General operations
• Programs to reduce deficit
• Matching gifts
• Organizations formed to combat specific diseases
• Medical research
• Programs to reduce deficits
• Environmental programs

We also maintain specific exemptions for the two areas where we concentrate our community involvement efforts:

Arts and Culture

• Student or amateur groups
• Arts education programs
• Individual artists
• Artistic training or scholarships
• Film and media productions
• Competitions
• Arts programs designed primarily for rehabilitation or therapy
• Public radio and television stations for unrestricted purposes, equipment acquisition or program underwriting
• The purchase of equipment

Education

• The purchase or installation of computers, modems, printers, telephones, facsimile machines, wiring or other equipment, unless it is a small but integral part of a larger project
• Scholarships to individual students
• Non-academic or extra-curricular programs such as sports programs or administrative activities
• Student or alumni organizations
• Endowments, memorials or named academic chairs
• General operations

Submitting Sponsorship Requests

We receive hundreds of sponsorship requests each year. Although most sponsorship requests are worthy, we can support only a small portion of the total number received and, as a result, must often turn down applicants even if they fit our funding guidelines.

Please include in your submission:

• Name and address of your organization including website address
• Contact person, title, telephone number, fax number and email address
• Potential charitable partners must include a Charitable number (only non-profit, registered charities considered)
• Amount of funds requested
• Geographical area served by your organization
• Description of project including your objectives and a project timetable
