As a Allstream dedicated access customer, there are a few tests you can perform in the event of an access problem. You will want to review these tests before contacting Allstream Support. The following checklist will help in resolving your access issues.

1. Is the power supply to your router active?
2. Are all cables connected securely?
3. Are you able to reach any internet hosts?
4. Are you able to "ping" the Allstream servers?

• Go to a DOS Prompt
• Type: ping 207.181.101.4 Press enter.
• Note the response you receive.
• If the request times out, please note this.

Are you able to traceroute to www.allstream.com?
Traceroute Instructions:

• Go to a DOS Prompt.
• Type: tracert www.allstream.com
• Press enter.
• Note the response you receive.
• You may also want to try a secodary host, such as www.yahoo.com
• If the request times out, please note this.

If you are able to ping or traceroute to Allstream, you still have internet connectivity, and your connection problem lies elsewhere. At this point, please contact Allstream Support to report this problem and the results of your PING and TRACEROUTE tests.
