Online Editing versus Uploading

There are two ways to create the content for your web pages using FrontPage.

Online edit Create offline, then publish
You create the content on our servers, over your internet connection, using a copy of FrontPage that you run on your computer. FrontPage You create the entire web site on your computer, make sure everything works as expected, and when you're satisfied, you "publish" or upload the entire site to Allstream's web server.
Only one copy of your data exists. You risk losing data if you accidentally erase files from the server at Allstream. You should make sure you save a copy of your files locally. If you accidentally delete a file on the server, you still have the copy you created on your computer. Just re-publish the site to replace the file.
You know the content is correct and will work immediately after is is created. Any problems show up immediately. You may not be able to see certain problems until after you publish the information. For example, a graphic that is referred to as C:\images\picture.gif may work fine while viewing the web page on your computer, but not after the site is uploaded to the server.
People looking at the site while you are building it will see the changes as you make them, which might be confusing. Your contruction work will be evident to everyone who looks at your site. Changes can be tested and pondered before they are made public.
You may find editing your webpage online is slow, because any changes you make must travel over your modem to the server. Your web page content and FrontPage are both on your computer, so creating the content offline should feel much faster.

Weighing the options, Allstream recommends that you create your web page offline, and when you are satisfied with it, upload it to our servers using FrontPage.
