Fortunately, you can easily change the program with which a file type is associated:

In the Windows Explorer and select the file that you're having trouble with.
Press and hold the Shift key as you right-click the file.
From the pop-up menu, choose the Open With command to display the Open With dialog box.
Choose the program you really do want to associate with the selected file type. You can choose the Always option again if you want to. Select OK to reassign the association.
