How to Configure Macintosh Open Transport

Overview:

The following instructions will assist in configuring TCP/IP, Modem, and PPP/ Remote Access. It should be noted that while PPP and Remote Access have different names they look the same and are set up the same.

Configuration:

  • Click on Apple Menu
  • Double click on Control Panel
  • Double click on TCP/IP



  • Set Connect via to PPP
  • Set Configure to Using PPP Server
  • Set Name server addr. to 207.181.101.4
  • Hit Return and on the next line type 207.181.101.5
  • Set Search Domains to allstream.com
  • Click on the close box
  • When it asks to save changes click on Save


  • Double click on Remote Access or PPP

  • Put the dot in Registered User
  • In the Name box type in username@allstream.net, username is your username
  • In the Password box type in your password
  • In the Number box type in your local access number
  • Click on the close box 
  • When it asks to save changes click on Save


  • Double click on Modem

  • Set Connect via to which ever port your modem is connected to, normally it is Modem Port
  • Set Modem to your modem type
  • Click on the close box 
  • When it asks to save changes click on Save
