There are two phases to setting up multiple mailboxes in Outlook
Express 5.0. The first task is to create a separate Identity for
each mailbox. The second task is to create a Mailbox Profile
for each Identity.
Setting up Identities
Step 1.
- Start Outlook Express 5.0.
Step 2.
- Click File.
- Click Identities - Manage Identities and
the following window will open.
Step 3.
- Click New to create a new identity.
- Enter
- Click "Ask me for a password when I start", and enter a
password when you are prompted.
Step 4.
- Click OK to complete the process.
- Repeat
these steps for each mailbox you are setting up.
Setting up Profiles
Once your identities are set up, the next step is to add mail profiles
to each identity.
Step 1.
- Click File - Switch Identities.
Step 2.
- Select the first identity to which you would like to add a
mail profile and click OK.
- A new version of Outlook Express 5.0 will open.
Step 3.
- Click Tools - Accounts. Select the Mail tab and
click the Add button.
- Select Mail as the item you would like to add.
Step 4.
- The Internet Connection Wizard will open, prompting
you to enter a Display Name.
- This is the name that is associated with your email address.
Normally this is your real name.
- Enter a name and click Next.
Step 5.
- You will now be asked to enter in an email address in the
Email Address field.
- Enter in username@allstream.net and click
Next
Step 6.
- Enter the POP3 and SMTP Email Server Names and
click Next.
Step 7.
- Enter your username in the Account Name field, and the password in the Password field.
- Select Remember Password if you do not want to enter your password each time you check for email.
- Click Next.
Step 8.
- Click Finish and you will have completed the email
profile for the first mailbox.
Step 9.
- To create the email profiles for each identity
repeat Step 1 through 8 for each Identity you have created.
- Each time you start Outlook Express 5.0, you will be prompted to select
an Identity, thus ensuring private and separate email.
