If you are creating your web site with Microsoft Front Page 98, there are a few tricks you will need to know to upload successfully.

Microsoft Front Page requires Microsoft Web Server Extensions to be installed on your computer if you want to use the Web Publishing Wizard to upload your files to the Allstream servers. If you do not have the extensions installed on your computer, you may be able to install them by going to the Front Page folder on your hard drive and running the Front Page Server Administrator.

This will install a Web Server on your computer.
If you do not want to install the Front Page Web Server Extensions on your computer, you can simply use the Front Page editor to create your pages, and then upload them to the Allstream Server using a third party FTP Program, such as WS-FTP.

You now need to create a new Front Page Web, to begin your website. In the Front Page Explorer, click File - New Web. Accept the default settings. You can now go into the Front Page Editor to create your pages. When you save the files, they will be saved into your local Front Page web.

To publish your web pages to the Allstream server, return to the Front Page Explorer and click the Publish button. You will be asked where you want to publish your web site:

Please Specify the Location to which you want to publish your Front Page Web:

Please enter www.allstream.net in the location box and click OK.

The Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard will appear. In the FTP Server name, please enter www.allstream.net, you can leave the Directory Path blank. Click OK.

You will now see a username and password box. Please enter your Allstream username and password. Click Finish.

Your pages will now be uploaded to the Allstream Servers.

Important Notes for Front Page:

Here are a few things to keep in mind with Front Page:

1. Front Page bots, Active Elements and components will NOT work on the Allstream Personal Homepage servers  as Allstream does not support the Front Page Server Extensions.***If you have Business Services, this does not effect you.  Please refer to Business Services Help Site for Front Page information.
2. When you publish your Front Page web pages, there are additional files, specific to Front Page that are also uploaded to your web space, especially if you are using Themes in your website. These specialized files are not deletable with the Allstream Page Builder utility. You will need to use WS-FTP or a comparable FTP Program to remove these files.
3. Allstream does not offer technical support on this product.
