Cause of Problem Symptoms  Fix 
Call Waiting  Your modem disconnects randomly Refer to the table below for the correct code to disable call waiting.  This code wil lhave to go in front of the Allstream access number in your software.
Call Answer  There is no dialtone for the modem. Pick up your messages or add X3 to your modem 
initialization string.
Modem is connected 
incorrectly
No dialtone error  Check whether the modem and phone cords are 
plugged into correct ports on modem and wall.
Voice Dial Service  Busy signal error or No dialtone error.  Insert *96, before the Allstream phone number.
Busy call return  Modem will fail instead of redialing if busy.  Toggle feature off by picking up phone, dial *02 
and then hang up. 
Pulse phone  line  Modem dials but does not connect Put the letter 'p' followed by a comma "," in front of the Allstream phone number.

Note: cancel codes (e.g. *70) can be different in different areas of the country.
