Roaming Client Software
It is easy to use. Once you download the roaming client software, it takes only a few moments to install on your laptop. The point-and-click software makes setup simple. In addition, you can use one Internet account and have the convenience of one user name and password worldwide.
This service is enabled through our partnership with iPass, a network of multiple top-tier ISP's. They provide great service in major business centers, making iPass the roaming service of choice for millions of Internet users worldwide.
When you use the roaming service in conjunction with a virtual private network (VPN) solution, you can gain secure access to your corporate network. iPass works with all industry leading VPN, firewall, and token card solutions.
Countries, cities, the available phone numbers and their associated dial-in properties can be found by downloading the iPass Client Software. You can view a complete list of the countries and cities where there are local access numbers on the iPass Website - and choose - Access Point finder at the top of the screen.
Rates
Roaming fees are on a "pay-per-use" basis and rates range by location. The roaming service charges will be included on your monthly Allstream Internet Services bill. Roaming rates will appear on the second statement you receive after your roaming usage. Individual sessions will be charged at the hourly rate, in Canadian dollars, and displayed in your roaming connection manager. You will be charged based on minutes. Session lengths are raised to the next minute. The hourly rates can be found in the software once it has been downloaded onto your computer.

In many countries you will require different power cords, plugs and phone jacks.
Before you leave:
1. Be sure to test your client software before roaming. Follow the instructions in the iPass User Guide for installing and testing your iPass client. Try several local access points to be sure that you are connecting properly. If you have any difficulty, please follow the instructions in the Troubleshooting Tips for getting support while roaming.
Note: If you are not using the iPass MCM, which has an automatically updating phone book, check with us to make sure you have the most recent iPass phone book before you travel. Be sure your client phone book is updated monthly as numbers frequently change.
2. Understand that modems function differently around the world. Many countries have different telecommunications laws and practices. Check with your modem supplier to ensure your modem will be compatible with the phone systems in the country where you are traveling.
3. Familiarize yourself with your capabilities. When you travel, you can still retrieve email via your normal email client but cannot send email from it. We recommend you use our web email client while travelling which can retrieve your email and send emails.
