EDI Service - FAQs Regarding Upcoming IP Address Change

Allstream provides EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) services in Canada as an exclusive reseller of EasyLink USA. EasyLink has upgraded its network and requires Allstream customers to make necessary modifications in the way you connect to the Allstream node.

On March 15, 2008, between 12:01 AM and 03:00 AM ET, Allstream will change its IP Address from 199.191.200.103 to 165.251.52.16. On March 15, 2008, subsequent to the time specified above, you must begin to use the new IP Address in order to be able to access Allstream node.

1. Why is EasyLink making this change?
The IP Space that you are currently using is associated with MTS Allstream’s and EasyLink’s prior Network infrastructure with IP Addresses that belong to another vendor.  Now that MTS Allstream and EasyLink have completed its network upgrade, all customers are required to begin using an IP Address space that is associated with the new data center.

2. When does the new IP Address go into affect?
MTS Allstream and EasyLink will be changing to the new IP Address at 12:01am Eastern Time (Midnight) on March 15, 2008.

3. How do I know if I’m affected?
You are affected if you are currently using an IP Address to access the MTS Allstream platform that begins with the numbers: 199

4. What is the old IP Address?
The old IP Address that will no longer work after March 15, 2008 is: 199.191.200.103

5. What is the new IP Address?
The new IP Address that needs to be used after midnight on March 15, 2008 is: 165.251.52.16

6. I use AccessPLUS.  Do I have to make this change?
AccessPLUS is capable of connecting you to the MTS Allstream network either through a dialup connection or through an IP Connection.  If AccessPLUS is setup to dial into the MTS Allstream network, or your AccessPlus connection is set to AT &T Mail, you are not affected.  If AccessPLUS is setup to access the MTS Allstream Network through an IP Connection, then you need to change the IP Address within your AccessPLUS configuration.

7. What if I use a DNS Address?
If you do not use AccessPLUS and you use a DNS Address (ua.<username>.gmis.easylink.com) to access MTS Allstream, you DO NOT have to make any changes.  Behind the scenes EasyLink will point your current DNS address to the new IP address.

8. What if my connectivity doesn’t work after I make the change?
After switching to the new IP Address on or after March 15, 2008, and the service does not work, please contact MTS Allstream at 1-800-567-4671.  There may be issues between the firewalls at MTS Allstream and your company’s firewall.

9. What if I use dialup instead of the Internet to access MTS Allstream?
Dialup access will not be affected by this IP Address change.

10. How can I check AccessPLUS to determine if it is dialing into the MTS Allstream system or if it is using an IP connection that requires action on my part?
