IP Relay is a free operator assisted service that enables persons with a hearing impairment (deaf, deafened, hard of hearing) and individuals who have difficulty speaking to make and receive text based calls from their personal computer (PC).
The person using Allstream IP Relay will type his or her conversation to an Allstream IP Relay operator, who then reads the typed conversation to the other party. The Allstream IP Relay operator then types the other party's spoken words back to the IP Relay user.
There is no charge for using the Allstream IP Relay Service to place local using a PC. For wireless Smartphone devices all applicable usage charges will apply and appear on your company's Allstream bill
Allstream IP Relay service is available in both English and French. The IP Relay user will select their language preference when registering for the service.
Calls placed through the Allstream IP Relay Service are entirely confidential. Allstream IP Relay operators are professionally trained and follow a strict code of ethics. No record of conversation content is retained.
