Case Study: Allstream helps Community Networks implement major expansion of videoconferencing network

Allstream worked with CNSC and OTN to implement a refresh plan which will see all CNSC systems upgrade on a 5-year rotation, and the development and installation of new systems bringing the total number of videoconferencing systems to 161. They implemented and configured the systems with the latest technology.

Organization
The Community Networks of Specialized Care (CNSC) is a cross-sector alliance of government programs and organizations working together to enhance specialized services across all regions of Ontario.

Challenge
CNSC needed a service provider to update and expand the videoconferencing systems and technology it had in place since its videoconferencing project began in 2005.

Outcomes

• Provided access to previously inaccessible specialized services
• Increased the number of clinical events from 24 to 184, the number of educational events from 206 to 340 and the number of planning/ administrative events from 104 to 428 over the last four years
• Saved approximately $36,500 in travel costs in the 2009/2010 fiscal year, while reducing travel challenges and related environmental impacts
• Simplified the provision of assessments and diagnostic feedback
